May 7, 2018 May 6 Nhi Ha Battle 50th Anniversary

It was May 6, 1968, on the DMZ, that two platoons from my company engaged a 300-man entrenched North Vietnamese force led by Col. Tha. Casualties were extreme.

A 50th anniversary memorial, sponsored by the Vietnamese government, has taken place on the battle site. Col. Tha invited me to the event, but it just didn't work out from a timing perspective. I really wanted to be there....
I have referred to this battle many times via email and the in-country blogs over the last three years, so I won't drag you through it again. A review of the blogs will provide the details. I have been back to the site five times.
Here is a link to the article, which is in Vietnamese. You'll notice Col. Tha, with whom I've spent time in 2015, 2016, and 2017, in the photos.
